Aluminium foil is made from high – purity aluminium (often 99%+ pure, sometimes with added elements for strength) through a process starting with hot – rolling large ingots into thick sheets and then cold – rolling to a thinness of 0.006 – 0.2 mm using a tandem mill; it features high flexibility, excellent barrier properties against moisture, oxygen, light and bacteria, good heat conductivity, and high reflectivity of light and heat, has a shiny and a matte side due to the rolling process
